16-year-old dies at Binjharpur health centre after alleged wrong injection

Jajpur: In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old boy died at the Binjharpur Community Health Centre (CHC) in Odisha's Jajpur district on Wednesday after allegedly being administered a wrong injection, sparking tension and protests at the facility.
The deceased, a resident of Rautara village under Binjharpur block, had complained of nausea and vomiting on Tuesday. As his condition worsened, his family brought him to the CHC late at night for urgent medical attention.
According to reports, the attending doctor prescribed two injections, which were administered by the nursing staff.

The sudden death triggered outrage among his family members, who alleged that medical negligence led to the teenager’s demise. They staged a protest on the hospital premises, demanding accountability and immediate action against those responsible.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and assured the agitators of a fair investigation. Subsequently, the protest was called off. Acting on a complaint filed by the boy’s father, police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem, reports TNIE.
The incident has fueled concerns over healthcare practices. An investigation is currently underway.
