Rajarajeswari medical college Final year MBBS student killed, classmate injured in scooter-tipper lorry crash

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old final-year MBBS student died, while her classmate sustained critical injuries, after their scooter was struck by a speeding tipper lorry on Mysore Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Bengaluru and a student at Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH). Her friend who was riding the scooter, is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital and is reported to be out of danger.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, the Kengeri Traffic Police stated that the accident occurred at approximately 4:15 PM. Both individuals were exiting the college gates after their classes had concluded. As the student attempted to turn onto the main road to head towards Mysore, a tipper lorry travelling from the city side towards Mysore collided with their scooty.
Meanwhile, passersby and college staff members immediately rushed both students to the emergency ward at RRMCH. However, shortly thereafter, one medico succumbed to her injuries.
Responding to this, DCP (Traffic, West) Anoop Shetty stated, “The scooter skidded following the collision. ***, who was riding the scooter, fell to the left side of the road, while ***, who was seated behind her, fell to the right. The rear wheels of the lorry ran over her.”
The Kengeri Traffic Police have registered a case for causing death by negligence (Section 304A of the IPC) and speeding. The tipper lorry has been seized, and the driver is being interrogated.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the student sustained critical injuries in a road accident in Gorakhpur. Despite efforts to provide medical assistance, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family, friends, and colleagues in deep grief. Local authorities and the police responded promptly to the incident and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
