Dubai-based Gynaecologist Killed in Car Accident in Kollam

48-Year-Old Doctor Dies in Road Crash
Thiruvananthapuram: A tragic road accident on Monday claimed the life of a 48-year-old gynaecologist from Pathanamthitta, who had been in India for a short vacation. The incident occurred near Kambamkode, close to Ayur in Kollam, when the car she was traveling in rammed into a wall along the roadside.
Bindu, a gynaecologist based in Dubai, was on her way home from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. She was a devoted mother to two children and had recently suffered the loss of her husband two years ago.
According to the Chadayamangalam police, the accident took place around 6 a.m. The driver of the car is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, which ultimately crashed into a wall beside the road. The authorities suspect that the driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel, which led to the unfortunate accident.
The driver sustained injuries in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The Chadayamangalam police have registered a case in connection with the incident.

As per the recent media reports by TOI, though Bindu was taken to a nearby private hospital, her life could not be saved. The body was handed over to the relatives after a postmortem examination held at Medical College Hospital.
Dr. Bindu Philip was an esteemed obstetrician and gynaecologist, known for her expertise in high-risk pregnancy care, infertility treatment, and cervical cancer screenings. She holds a medical degree from Dr. S N Medical College, Jodhpur, and completed her post-graduation in obstetrics and gynaecology from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, in 2012.

According to Siasat, she began her career at a renowned maternity and infertility hospital in Kerala before becoming an Associate Professor at Mount Zion Medical College. Before moving to Sharjah, she worked in Dubai, managing normal and caesarean deliveries.
She was also a registered member of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India (FOGSI) and the Travancore Medical Council.
