Bijnor paediatrician shot dead over hospital rivalry, doctor among 3 arrested

Doctor Arrested
Bijnor: Following the killing of a paediatrician inside his chamber at a private hospital in Bijnor's Nagina town, police have arrested three people, including another doctor, in connection with the alleged murder, officials said on Saturday.
The victim, who ran Shivalaya Health Care Centre, was reportedly shot dead on Thursday evening. The complaint was filed by his sister, after which the police registered a murder case. CCTV footage and a motorcycle recovered from the scene helped police identify the accused.
According to a UNI report, police arrested the alleged shooter and also detained the owner of Sumitra Nursing Home on Friday late evening.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that in a shocking incident, a 45-year-old paediatrician was shot dead inside a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district, by an unidentified assailant on Thursday evening, police said.
The incident took place late Thursday evening when the accused entered the hospital, shot the doctor in the chest and then fled.

During interrogation, police found that the doctor had hired the shooter to kill another doctor over a financial dispute. About five years ago, both doctors had taken a loan together to establish Sumitra Nursing Home.
However, around two-and-a-half years later, the victim separated from the partnership and opened his own hospital nearby without clearing the joint loan, which reportedly led to resentment.
According to a news report in the TOI, the SP added that the new hospital began attracting more patients, which allegedly caused financial losses to the hospital in Nagina. Enraged by this, the accused is believed to have planned the murder and promised the alleged shooter Rs 10 lakh to execute his plan. The latter got Rs 2 lakh in advance, Jha said.
According to Circle Officer of Nagina, Anjani Chaturvedi, both accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
