Rohtak MBBS Exam Scam case: Another Private Medical College student Under scanner

Haryana- In a major development in the ongoing “MBBS exam scam” investigation at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR), a student from another private medical college in the state has come forward. This is a different institution from the one against whose 24 MBBS students an FIR was lodged on February 15 following a complaint by the UHSR security officer about exam irregularities.
So far, three employees of UHSR have been arrested in connection with this scam. Along with this, one of the accused revealed during police interrogation that the answer sheet of a student of another private medical college was smuggled out soon after her 2023 examination. “The answer sheet was reattempted at the house of a UHSR employee before being re-submitted to the university, with assistance from the student section assistant and a peon from the secrecy branch,” the sources said.
This is the first time a student from another private college has come under scrutiny in the scam. However, a written complaint submitted to UHSR in January indicated that students from multiple colleges may be involved, helped by UHSR staff. At that time, investigators did not have enough evidence to expand their investigation beyond UHSR students.
According to a TribuneIndia report, sources have confirmed that this newly implicated private medical college is the same institution whose MBBS student had recently filed a formal complaint with the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER). The complaint is currently being investigated by a committee led by PGIMS's additional director, Subhita Dhaka.
The sources added, “With the involvement of another student from this college, it is expected that UHSR authorities and the police will widen their investigation to include more students from this institution. The latest development suggests a larger network of malpractice that may extend across the state”.
