Kayakalp Awardees Felicitation Ceremony Held in Kohima

Kohima: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, graced the felicitation programme of KAYAKALP Awardees for the year 2023-24 and 2024-25 at the conference hall of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima on 25th March 2025.
In his address as the special guest stated that National Health Mission has always taken the responsibility and priority to support KAYAKALP award and assured that in the next KAYAKALP Award, he would enhance and increase the cash award so that it plays an important role in supporting the health care where the offices are sincerely working so as to promote the hospital and health centres.
He also reminded all the health centres that no transformation takes place by itself but only with human interferences assured to visits the district health centres in the coming days to check the ODB performances and clinical performances. He also assured that he would take up the matter for construction of CMO offices in districts which have no infrastructure and added that there were fund available to improve not only the outer beautification of the hospital but also see that the clinical performances are upto the standard.

He lauded that the department is providing equipment to the hospitals but if it is not intervened there would be no transformation in the hospital and therefore urged the doctors and officers of the department to take a bold step to bring about the change and transformation, and urged them to share their problems. He also highlighted the shortage of manpower due to the creation of sub-centres and the upgradation of sub-centres into PHCs without doctors and nurses over the years.
The minister also congratulated and appreciated Team Nagaland on the TB elimination programme of 100 days and achieving the National Award, where many of the members took part in its success. He also gave away certificates to the awardees during the programme.
Additional Secretary, S. Tainiu Khiamniungan while appreciating the challenges the health workers have endured to achieve the awards said we celebrate the achievement of transformative initiatives impact on public health system in the state through KAYAKALP, she said the programme is being observing in the district hospital, sub-centres, community health centres through rigorous assessment and highlighted the important of KAYAKALP.
During the programme, experience sharing, thought, PowerPoint presentation, Kayakalp Award was highlighted by M.S Zunheboto DH, Eco-Friendly Award by SMO Changyongya CHC, Mokokchung and National Quality Assurance Standard Certification by M.O, Kuhuboto PHC, Dimapur and CHO, Rusoma HWC-SC, Kohima.
During the programme, the welcome address was proposed by Principal Director, DoHFW, Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton, while the closing remarks was pronounced by Mission Director, National Health Mission, DoHFW, Dr. Akuo Sorhie and the program was chaired by State Progam Officer, National Health Mission, Nagaland, Dr. Mereninla Senlem.
