Zydus Lifesciences Slapped Rs 1.42 Crore Tax Demand, Plans to Challenge Order

New Delhi: Zydus Lifesciences Limited has received a tax demand order of Rs 14.20 million, including interest and penalty, for alleged inadmissible input tax credit reversals covering financial years 2019-20 to 2023-24, and plans to challenge the order.
The order has been issued by the Assistant Commissioner, Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Division-Ambala, under Section 74 of the CGST/HGST Act, 2017. It pertains to alleged irregularities related to reversal of input tax credit during the specified period.
The company received the order on March 31, 2026, at 11:41 a.m. According to the disclosure, Zydus Lifesciences believes it has strong merits in the case and intends to file an appeal before the appropriate authority.
Despite the demand, the company stated that there is no material financial impact at present. It expressed confidence in securing a favourable outcome through the appellate process.
The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, which mandates timely reporting of significant regulatory developments.
Zydus Lifesciences emphasized that it will pursue necessary legal remedies and continue to comply with applicable regulatory requirements while addressing the matter.
