TN Health releases tentative stray vacancy round schedule for PG medical admissions 2025, check seat position

Tamil Nadu: The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME), Tamil Nadu, has released the Tentative Stray Vacancy Round Counselling Schedule for admission to PG Degree and Diploma Courses for the 2025-2026 academic session.

The stray round counselling will cover seats in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges, Government Quota and Management Quota (including Minority and NRI) seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges, State Private Universities, and 20% & 50% seats of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

As per the schedule, the registration & Choice Filling is going to end tomorrow, i.e. 22 February 2026, 01:00 PM and therefore, the seat allotment will also be processed tomorrow. Following this, the result will be declared on 23 February 2026 and hence, the Provisional Allotment Order can be downloaded till 28 February 2026. Below is the detailed schedule-

NON-ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COUNSELLING

1 The candidate who joined the course through State Quota counselling of Round-1, Round-2 & Round-3 (Mop-up).

2 The candidate who was allotted a seat through the State Quota Counselling of Round-3 (Mop-up).

3 The candidate who joined the course through All India counselling of Round-1, Round -2 & Round-3 (Mop-up).

4 The candidate who was allotted a seat through the All India counselling of the Stray Vacancy Round. The candidates who discontinued the course with a penalty are not eligible for the stray round.

Meanwhile, candidates who are participating in the online choice filling for PG Degree/Diploma Courses will have to remit a non-refundable Registration Fee of Rs.1000/- for the Government Quota. At the time of registration, the candidate will have to pay a Refundable Security Deposit (If already paid, need not pay again) forthe Government Quota-

1 For Government Medical Colleges – Rs 30,000/-.

2 For Government Quota seats in Self-Financing Medical College – Rs 1,00, 000/-.

3 For Management Quota including Minority/ NRI Category seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges - Rs 2,00, 000/-.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING ALLOTMENT ORDER

1 The freshly allotted candidates have to pay the Tuition Fee for downloading the Provisional allotment order through online via Debit Card / Credit Card/ Net Banking.

2 Fee structure is available on the official website of TN Health.

3 All candidates should make sure that sufficient fund is available in their bank account with an expanded credit limit while remitting their Tuition Fee.

4 The allotted candidates should download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the concerned Medical College/Institution on or before the stipulated date and time as mentioned in the Provisional Allotment Order.

REPORTING TO THE ALLOTTED COLLEGE

1 The candidates should produce their original certificates in person at the time of joining their selected Colleges along with the scanned copy of their original certificates for verification.

2 If you do not report to the Head of the Institution to which you are allotted on or before the time and date specified, your selection and/or admission will be cancelled without any further notice.

3 The Candidate selected for admission should give a self-declaration form at the time of reporting to the concerned College that he/she is liable for forfeiture of selection/admission if suppression of facts, mis-interpretation is found at any time during or after the admission to the course.

CHOICE FILLING

1 Candidates will have the option of choice filling for all the seats for which they have applied.

2 Candidates can edit their choices any number of times before locking, but once locked, they will not be allowed to edit. Hence, candidates are requested to check their choices and the order of preference before locking.

3 If the candidate does not lock his/her choices till the last date (22-02-2026 1.00 PM) their choices will be automatically locked.

4 Candidates should be careful while choice filling.

Along with this, the DME Tamil Nadu has also released the Tentative Vacancy Position for PG Degree and Diploma Courses 2025-2026 across Government Medical Colleges, Self-Financing Medical Colleges, and Private Medical Colleges.

The Tentative Vacancy Position provides speciality-wise, college-wise, and quota-wise vacancy details under Government Quota (GQ), Management Quota (MQ), NRI, Minority Quotas (Christian, Malayalam, Telugu), and CMC 20% & 50% seats.

According to the Tentative Vacancy Position list, a total of 380 seats are vacant across Government Medical Colleges, Self-Financing Medical Colleges, and Private Medical Colleges. Of these, a total of 79 seats are vacant across 23 Government Medical Colleges, 234 is 26 Self-Financing Medical Colleges and 67 in 19 Private Medical Colleges of Tamil Nadu.
