NMC eases BCMET rule: Faculty to be promoted from due date despite training delays
Taking cognizance of the concerns raised by the medical college faculties regarding the delayed availability of slots for the Basic Course in Medical Education and Technology (BCMET), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has provided relief to the doctors by specifying that if a faculty member completes the BCMET course after the due date of promotion and submits the completion certificate, then they should be promoted from their due date of promotion.

Faculty members from medical colleges informed the Apex Medical Commission regarding the delayed availability of slots for the BCMET from the designated institutes, and they also highlighted that the medical colleges did not follow any clear norms or seniority criteria for nomination to the limited slots for the BCMET courses.

SC rejects Singhania University's plea for judge's recusal in MBBS recognition case

The Supreme Court recently upheld an order passed by a Division bench of the Rajasthan High Court denying to grant relief to Singhania University, which had sought the recusal of the Single Judge adjudicating the issues of recognition of MBBS courses at the University on the ground of possible bias.

Accordingly, the Apex Court refused to interfere with the interim order passed by the HC Division bench, which had upheld the Single Judge's order refusing to recuse.

Andhra Pradesh HC grants extra exam time to MBBS student with cerebral palsy

Granting relief to a second-year MBBS student, suffering from cerebral palsy, the Andhra Pradesh High Court granted her additional compensatory time during examinations, on the account of her disability.

Even though the petitioner was granted 1 hour of extra time initially, it was found inadequate for the petitioner. Therefore, the Court granted another 30 minutes of extra time to her.

Nagpur: Woman doctor found murdered at home, husband and brother-in-law arrested
In an unfortunate incident, a 50-year-old woman doctor working at the physiotherapy department of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was found dead with a head wound at her residence in Maharashtra's Nagpur city, police said on Sunday.

The woman's body was discovered in her house in Ladikar Layout under the Hudkeshwar police station limits on Saturday night, an official said.
