Himalaya Wellness Launches Galactosure to Enhance Lactation in Post-Partum Indian Women - Video
Overview
Himalaya Wellness Company launches Galactosure granules, a triple action lactation support, for post-partum Indian women with or without lactation insufficiency.
Despite ongoing efforts, exclusive breastfeeding remains a challenge in India. National Health and Family Survey-5 data show that a significant number of Indian mothers still do not exclusively breastfeed their babies for the first six months, highlighting a clear gap in lactation support during the postpartum period. This can be due to factors like stress, poor physical health, and emotional wellness which can impact lactation.
Addressing this unmet need, Himalaya Wellness, a leading company in herbal and ayurvedic products, has launched a combination of 2X Shatavari, Saffron and Moringa, under the brand name of Galactosure, compared to major polyherbal galactogogue products sold in the market. Galactosure is indicated for women with or without lactation insufficiency for enhanced lactation.
A study evaluating 121 Indian lactating mother reported 5 times more milk production with Galactosure after one month follow up with enhanced breast milk production up to 90 days. The study also highlighted that Galactosure maintained serum prolactin levels to support optimal breast milk production. There were no significant or serious adverse events reported in the study.
Galactosure is available in the form of granules and is meant for oral use. The recommended intake is 2 scoops (i.e. 10gms), twice a day, with one glass of milk.
Galactosure stands out by virtue of its unique composition in the form of 2X Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) content, which enhances breast milk production. Moringa (Moringa oleifera), a natural galactogogue, increases breast milk production and empowers physical nourishment while Saffron (Crocus sativus) is included to enrich emotional well-being. It also contains Mishreya and Methi for hormonal balance and lactation support.
Speaking to Medical Dialogues, Dr. Suvendu Sankar Kar, Senior Manager – Scientific Services, from Himalaya, said, “With Galactosure, we aim to provide holistic lactation support for postpartum mothers. It has been developed to support lactation through a combination of ingredients that help as a galactogogue, physical nourishment and emotional well-being.”
